Job summary

Rochdale Council is seeking an Auxiliary Operative (Relief Caretaker) to work across various locations in the borough, including schools, family hubs, libraries, and town halls. The role is full-time with split shifts, typically 6:30am–10:00am and 2:00pm–7:00pm, with occasional later hours.

It is a permanent 52-week post with 25 days leave and access to a pension scheme and discounted fitness facilities. Successful candidates will maintain high cleaning and hygiene standards, support site

Qualifications

• Keen eye for detail and the ability to maintain high cleaning and hygiene standards.
• Knowledge of COSHH and Health & Safety advantageous.
• Flexible and able to work across multiple sites within the borough.

Responsibilities

• Clean toilets, empty bins, sweep/mop/vacuum floors.
• Secure sites, conduct grounds checks, porterage and basic maintenance.
• Support site operations across schools, family hubs, libraries and other public buildings.
