Job summary

Rochdale Council is seeking an Auxiliary Operative (Relief Caretaker) to work across the borough in venues such as schools, libraries and Rochdale Town Hall. The role is full-time with split shifts from early morning to early evening.

You will clean, empty bins, sweep, mop and maintain hygiene standards, support site security, grounds checks, porterage and basic maintenance. COSHH and Health & Safety knowledge are advantageous; 25 days annual leave and a pension scheme are included.

Qualifications

• Keen eye for detail and maintaining high cleaning/hygiene standards.
• COSHH and Health & Safety knowledge is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Cleaning toilets, emptying bins, sweeping, mopping and vacuuming floors.
• Security of the site and grounds checks.
• Porterage and basic maintenance tasks.
• Work across various borough locations (schools, libraries, town hall).
• Some sites may require early starts or late finishes.
• May include duties as part of casual pool when not selected.
