Rochdale Council is seeking an Auxiliary Operative (Relief Caretaker) to work across the borough in venues such as schools, libraries and Rochdale Town Hall. The role is full-time with split shifts from early morning to early evening.

You will clean, empty bins, sweep, mop and maintain hygiene standards, support site security, grounds checks, porterage and basic maintenance. COSHH and Health & Safety knowledge are advantageous; 25 days annual leave and a pension scheme are included.

External candidates applying for this role must be a Rochdale Resident who lives within the municipal boundaries of the Borough of Rochdale (i.e where the household pays council tax to Rochdale Borough Council).

About the role;

Facilities Management are looking at appoint arobust and energetic Auxiliary Operative (Relief Caretaker) to work in various locations throughout the borough of Rochdale. This will include schools, family hubs, libraries and other public buildings such as Rochdale Town Hall and Number One Riverside. This post is full time and based on a split shift meeting the needs of the service of our clients. The working patterns of this post will be slightly varied depending on the site, but usually ranges from a start time of 6.30am until 10am and 2pm until 7pm. There may be occassions where you are expected to work until 9.30pm. This is a permanent 52 week of the year post. There is a generous annual leave entitlement of 25 days per year plus all Bank Holidays. There are other benefits such as a robust pension scheme, as well as access to 'Your Trust' fitness centres at a reduced rate.

The successful candidate should possess a keen eye to detail and will be responsible for maintaining a high level of cleaning and hygiene standards.

Duties will include, cleaning toilets, emptying bins, sweeping/mopping/vacuuming floors spaces. Other responsibilities include security of the site, grounds checks, porterage, and basic maintenance. A good knowledge of COSHH and Health and Safety would be an advantage for this role.

Any candidate not successful for this post, but has an appointable score may be considered for our casual pool of cleaners. This may open up other opportunities in the future.
