Job summary

Carrington Blake Recruitment is seeking a dedicated Cleaner to support cleaning across Butterknowle Floor, Toft Hill Toilet and Meadowfield Direct Services Depot, DH7 8XL. The role requires reliability, attention to detail and the ability to work independently to maintain clean, hygienic and safe environments.

The successful candidate will perform sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, toilet sanitation, waste disposal and stock replenishment while following health and safety procedures and site-specific

Qualifications

• Previous cleaning experience is desirable.
• Ability to work independently and manage cleaning tasks effectively.
• Good attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of hygiene.
• Understanding of basic health and safety procedures when using cleaning products and equipment.
• Reliability, punctuality and a flexible approach to work.
• Ability to follow instructions and complete cleaning schedules.

Responsibilities

• Carry out general cleaning duties, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming and dusting.
• Clean and sanitise toilets, washrooms and other designated areas.
• Maintain cleanliness across floors, communal areas and frequently used spaces.
• Empty bins and dispose of waste safely and appropriately.
• Use cleaning products and equipment in accordance with health and safety procedures.
• Replenish essential supplies, including soap, toilet paper and paper towels, where required.
• Identify and report maintenance issues, damage or health and safety hazards.
• Follow cleaning schedules and ensure all tasks are completed to the required standard.
• Maintain a safe and hygienic environment for staff, visitors and other building users.
• Comply with relevant safeguarding requirements and site-specific procedures when working in school premises.
