Job summary

Guardian Glass in Goole, UK, is seeking a Reliability and Maintenance Manager to lead planning and execution across our production lines. You will build a high-performing team, advance proactive maintenance, and improve asset reliability while ensuring safety standards and strong collaboration with Operations and Engineering.

You will report to site leadership and shape maintenance strategy, CMMS/EAM workflows and performance reviews to deliver reliable operations and continuous improvement.

I n the UK, Guardian Glass is continually looking for talented individuals to help us continue our growth and presence in the regional and global market. All UK manufacturing is based at our plant in Goole, East Yorkshire which has recently made significant investment in a new furnace using the latest technology and secures glass manufacture at the site for the next 20 years. The plant, which operates 24/7, can produce some of the most advanced and innovative energy saving architectural glass on the market today.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Reliability and Maintenance Manager to lead maintenance planning and execution across our production lines. The successful candidate will build a high-performing team, develop capability and drive the transition from reactive maintenance to a more proactive, planned and reliability-focused approach.

Our Team

Reporting to the Fabrication Manager, you will lead and develop the Reliability and Maintenance team, comprising maintenance supervisors and electrical and mechanical engineers. You will work closely with Operations and other site functions to build capability and improve equipment reliability and operational performance.

What You Will Do

• Lead and develop the reliability team in line with Guardian’s safety vision, values and expectations, using Koch’s Principle Based Management framework to create value and improve performance.
• Possess a contribution mindset to identify opportunities to continually improve and transform yourself and the business.
• Build team capability through coaching, development, regular one-to-one conversations, clear feedback and effective performance management.
• Create an environment where people feel empowered to challenge the status quo, contribute ideas and take ownership of change, reliability and continuous improvement.
• Strengthen collaboration between Operations, Engineering and Maintenance teams and move from reactive work towards a more organized, planned and reliability-focused operation.
• Lead the reliability and maintenance strategy, associated procedures, CMMS/EAM work management and reviews of preventive, predictive and condition-based asset care.
• Use operational and maintenance data, structured problem-solving and root-cause analysis to identify opportunities that improve team effectiveness, equipment availability and operational performance.
• Build a strong safety culture and ensure maintenance activities effectively manage equipment and process risks, comply with relevant requirements and are planned and executed to the highest standard
• Act as the area reliability escalation point for complex or critical equipment issues, mobilising engineering and contractor support, agreeing recovery plans and communicating priorities with Operations.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

• Proven experience leading, supervising or coordinating teams and building an environment where people can succeed.
• Experience working within a manufacturing, industrial, process, logistics or other operational environment.
• A strong commitment to safety, compliance and ensuring work is planned and executed to high standards.
• Demonstrated ability to motivate, coach and develop people, give effective feedback and manage performance.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize people, maintenance work, resources and competing operational demands.
• An effective communicator who can build positive relationships, influence decisions and work collaboratively at all levels of the business.
• A proactive, contribution-focused mindset with the confidence to challenge the status quo, work autonomously and drive sustainable improvement.
• Practical understanding of maintenance, reliability and asset performance, including experience using CMMS/EAM or structured work-management processes.

What Will Put You Ahead

• Experience leading maintenance, reliability or engineering teams in a 24/7 manufacturing environment.
• A relevant engineering, asset-management or reliability qualification, together with experience on a COMAH-regulated or process-safety-critical site.
