Job summary

Guardian Glass is seeking a Maintenance Technician at the Goole, East Yorkshire site to support a 24/7 manufacturing operation and to drive reliability of critical plant equipment.

The role focuses on preventive and corrective maintenance, improving equipment availability, and collaborating with Operations, Engineering and Reliability teams to optimise plant performance.

Qualifications

• Recognised craft apprenticeship in mechanical engineering.
• Proven experience in mechanical maintenance within an industrial/manufacturing environment.
• A proactive mindset with a desire to continuously improve yourself, your team and the business.
• The ability to work independently whilst contributing positively within a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Drive continuous improvement efforts and defect reduction initiatives.
• Carry out planned and preventative maintenance activities to maximise equipment availability and reliability.
• Troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining manufacturing process equipment.
• Ensure machinery is safe to operate and maintain safety equipment.

In the UK, Guardian is continually looking for talented individuals to help them continue their growth and presence in the regional market. AllUKmanufacturing is based from the plant in Goole,East Yorkshire which has recently made significant investment in a new furnace which uses advanced technology and will secure glass manufacture at the site for the next 20 years. The plant can produce some of the most advanced and innovative energy saving architectural glass on the market today. The plant is a lower tier COMAH site which operates a 24/7 manufacturing environment.

We are currently recruiting for talented individual s who shares our corporate values and beliefsto fill an immediate position for a Maintenance Technician role within our facility.

What You Will Do

• Drive continuous improvement efforts and defect reduction initiatives
• Maintain a clean and organized working environment
• Perform day to day activities of Maintenance department,including but not limited to:
• Breakdown rectification / resolution / follow-up completion.
• Carry out planned and preventative maintenance activities to maximise equipment availability and reliability
• Improvement activities.
• Strive to improve equipment Reliability.
• Demonstrates ability and knowledge to maintain machinery in good repair
• Assist in decision making to repair or replace equipment
• Troubleshooting, repairing and maintain manufacturing process equipment
• Ensure machinery is safe to operate
• Install and maintain safety equipment
• Flexible, adaptable, ability to work overtime
• Work closely with Operations, Engineering and Reliability teams to improve plant performance

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

• Have a recognised craft apprentice in a mechanical engineering.
• Proven experience in mechanical maintenance within an industrial or manufacturing environment
• A proactive mindset with a desire to continuously improve yourself, your team and the business
• The ability to work independently whilst contributing positively within a team environment
• Have Fabricating experience (desirable)
• Be qualified to NVQ level 3 (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline (desirable)
• Experience of:
• Conveying systems
• Have good verbal and written communication skills..
• Possess a contribution mindset to identify opportunities to continually improve and transform yourself and the business.

What Will Put You Ahead

• More than five years’ experience as a Maintenance Technician.
• Working knowledge to repair and maintain belt conveyors, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
• Be qualified to HNC level in a relevant discipline.
• FLT/MEWP experience
• Knowledge of electrical systems and electrical isolations (multi-skilled)
• A demonstrated track record of improving equipment reliability and plant performance
• Experience working within a COMAH, process, manufacturing, glass, chemical, food or heavy industrial environment.
