Job summary

Gateley Plc is seeking a Compliance Officer to work with the Professional Regulation and Standards team to promote regulatory compliance across the business. You will report to the Director of Professional Regulation and Standards and support colleagues and the wider business.

Key responsibilities include policy development, practical guidance, onboarding support, regulatory reporting and maintaining compliance registers, with a strong emphasis on confidentiality and security.

Qualifications

• Excellent oral and written communication, with ability to prepare clear reports.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships across levels.
• Excellent organizational skills, ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficient IT skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); able to learn new systems.
• Knowledge of legal/regulatory requirements for professional services.
• Experience in a professional services environment or with policies, controls and procedures would be an advantage.
• Familiarity with iManage, Intapp and 3E is advantageous.
• Ambitious with initiative and willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

• Develop, review and maintain policies and procedures to stay effective and up to date.
• Provide practical compliance support and guidance to colleagues across the business.
• Identify and manage conduct, regulatory and compliance issues; escalate as needed and share recommendations.
• Assist with client onboarding queries with Business Acceptance and stakeholders.
• Support regulatory reporting, investigations, approvals and notifications.
• Maintain regulatory registers and conduct file reviews, monitoring and audits.
• Prepare internal compliance bulletins and regulatory updates to raise awareness of risks.
• Understand obligations of SRA, regulators, RICS and IPReg; maintain confidentiality and information security.
