Job description

Are you a Registered Veterinary Nurse looking to take the next step in your career - or soon to qualify and eager to get started? We’d love to welcome you to our friendly, dedicated team at Abivale Veterinary Group. With four well-established practices across South Oxfordshire, we’re proud to provide outstanding small animal care, including 24-hour emergency services.

What’s the Role?

This is a hands-on, varied nursing position where you’ll be involved in all areas of patient care. You’ll work across our surgeries in Abingdon, Didcot, Wallingford, and Wantage, supporting a range of clinical activities including anaesthesia, radiology, ultrasonography, inpatient care, and general nursing duties. The role includes laboratory work using our in-house diagnostics equipment, and you’ll be an integral part of maintaining high standards of patient and client care.

Your Schedule

You’ll work a 40-hour week across 5 days, with 8-hour shifts. Weekends and bank holidays are worked on a shared rota basis, with time off in lieu provided. There’s no out-of-hours requirement, as we have a dedicated night team covering this service.

About Abivale Veterinary Group

Abivale is a well-established small animal practice serving the South Oxfordshire area through our four sites. Our main branch is located in Abingdon, just a short walk from the historic town centre and only 15 minutes from Oxford city centre, known for its beauty, culture, and amenities. Regular public transport makes getting here easy.

We’re equipped with a full range of diagnostic tools including ultrasound, x-ray, endoscopy, dental x-ray, and a well-equipped lab for in-house blood work. We also serve as a 24-hour emergency care provider and have a dedicated night team to ensure continuous patient support. As a nurse training practice, we’re passionate about supporting development and creating a positive working environment. Our current team includes 9 vets, 8 RVNs, 3 student nurses, 2 animal nursing assistants, 8 receptionists, and a friendly admin team.

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who enjoys being part of a team, takes pride in delivering excellent patient care, and brings strong organisational skills to the role. Whether you’re newly qualified or nearly there, if you’re enthusiastic about professional growth and want to work in a supportive, well-equipped practice - we’d love to hear from you.
