Job summary

Keystone Care in West Yorkshire is seeking a Registered Service Manager to lead a small residential service for adults with learning disabilities, autism and challenging behaviours. You will be responsible for day-to-day operations, safeguarding, and ensuring high-quality, person-centred care.

You will develop your team, embed best practice, manage rotas, oversee records and risk assessments, and build strong relationships with families and external professionals.

Qualifications

  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care (or equivalent) is required or willingness to work towards.
  • NVQ/QCF Level 3 or above in Health & Social Care is required.
  • Ongoing professional development in social care, leadership or behaviour support preferred.
  • Full UK driving licence preferred depending on service needs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clear leadership and management of the residential home, ensuring safe, effective and person-centred service delivery.
  • Oversee daily operations, including rota management, staffing levels, and allocation of responsibilities to meet service needs.
  • Ensure full compliance with CQC standards, local authority requirements and internal policies, including robust safeguarding practices.
  • Implement and monitor quality assurance processes, including audits, action plans and regular service reviews.
  • Lead staff recruitment, induction and performance management, addressing capability and conduct issues where necessary.
  • Coach, mentor and support the staff team to develop skills in managing challenging behaviours and delivering positive behaviour support.
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date records, care plans and risk assessments, ensuring documentation meets regulatory standards.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with families, external professionals and stakeholders to support collaborative care planning.

Job description

This is a permanent opportunity to lead a small residential service in West Yorkshire, ensuring high-quality, person-centred care and a safe, supportive environment. You'll have the autonomy to drive standards, develop your team and embed best practice, with a salary of £43,000.

About the Role

As Registered Service Manager, you will take full responsibility for the day-to-day running of a small residential home, ensuring it meets all regulatory, safeguarding and quality standards. You will lead and develop your team to deliver consistent, person-centred support to individuals with learning disabilities, autism and challenging behaviours. Your leadership will be central to maintaining a stable, high-performing service and continuous improvement in outcomes for residents.

Key Responsibilities

Key Requirements
  • Proven experience in a management role within residential care or supported living for adults with learning disabilities and/or autism.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with a track record of building and sustaining effective staff teams.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of CQC regulations, safeguarding frameworks and relevant health and social care legislation.
  • Experience of managing services that support individuals with challenging behaviours, including risk management.
  • Ability to implement and maintain robust quality assurance and improvement processes.
  • Confident in handling complex situations, making sound decisions and prioritising effectively in a busy service.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage staff, residents and external professionals.
  • Competent in using care management systems and maintaining accurate, compliant documentation.
Desirable Skills
  • Experience in a small residential home setting with complex needs and challenging behaviours.
  • Knowledge and application of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) approaches.
  • Experience of leading services through CQC inspections and implementing post-inspection action plans.
  • Background in developing and delivering staff training in behaviour management and person-centred care.
  • Familiarity with local authority commissioning and contract monitoring processes in West Yorkshire.
Qualifications
  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care (or equivalent) - required or willingness to work towards.
  • Relevant health and social care qualification (e.g. NVQ/QCF Level 3 or above in Health and Social Care) - required.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development in social care, leadership or behaviour support - preferred.
  • Full UK driving licence - preferred, depending on service needs.
