Registered Nurse - Acute Medical Receiving Unit

Job Overview

The post holder will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, assessing care needs, developing, implementing, and evaluating care programmes to ensure high-quality patient care. The role requires autonomous practice, supervision of staff and students, and may vary based on ward/department and patient dependency.

Additional Responsibilities After 2 Years Post Registration

Leading, coordinating, and supervising staff to promote best practices; providing cover in the absence of senior staff.

Candidate Requirements

• Registered Nurse with valid NMC Registration
• Excellent team working, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team
• Good time management and basic IT skills

Desirable Skills and Experience

• Post-registration development evidence
• Infection control training
• Experience in acute or medical admissions settings
• Knowledge of SIGN, trust policies, best practice guidelines
• Cannulation, phlebotomy, assessment, IV drugs, venepuncture skills
• Ability to work unsociable hours

Contract Details

• Permanent, full-time or part-time, various hours (pro-rata salary for part-time)

Location & Working Pattern

Based in the Acute Medical Receiving Unit, University Hospital Monklands, with a rotational shift pattern.
