You will deliver high-quality, evidence-based care across inpatient units, maintaining safety and therapeutic recovery in a busy acute setting. Flexible shifts (day, night, weekends) are on offer, with ongoing CPD support, supervision, and access to major NHS postings across Cheshire.

Qualifications

• NMC PIN active registration without restrictions.
• Strong knowledge of acute mental health inpatient care.
• Experience in NHS mental health wards or PICU preferred.
• Excellent English communication and documentation skills.
• Training in physical intervention/de-escalation (e.g., PMVA/MAPA) desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, person-centred nursing care on inpatient wards.

Key Responsibilities

As a Band 5 Registered Mental Health Nurse representing Evolve Staffing Ltd. within a major Cheshire NHS acute mental health hospital, you will provide high-quality, person-centred, evidence-based nursing care across inpatient wards. Your core duties will include:

• Care Planning: Conducting comprehensive clinical mental health assessments and developing bespoke, recovery-focused care plans.
• Medication Management: Safely administering, monitoring, and auditing psychiatric medications following NMC guidelines and Trust policies.
• MDT Collaboration: Working closely with psychiatrists, occupational therapists, social workers, and ward psychologists for holistic care.
• Risk Assessment: Identifying, documenting, and managing clinical risks to ensure safety for service users, staff, and visitors.
• Crisis De-escalation: Utilizing therapeutic de-escalation techniques and managing acute behavioral distress safely during crisis episodes.
• Statutory Governance: Strictly applying the Mental Health Act (1983/2007) and Mental Capacity Act (2005) frameworks within ward environments.
• Family Advocacy: Acting as a supportive point of contact for families and carers, offering regular updates and compassionate guidance.
• Clinical Leadership: Providing guidance, task delegation, and clinical supervision to Healthcare Assistants (HCAs) and student nurses.

Requirements & Qualifications

To be successful in this Band 5 Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) application via Evolve Staffing Ltd. in Cheshire, you must demonstrate:

• Valid NMC PIN: Active registration as a Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) on Part 1 of the NMC register with zero restrictions.
• Clinical Competence: Strong working knowledge of acute mental health inpatient care, MHA sections, MCA, and DoLS safeguards.
• Hospital Experience: Minimum 6–12 months post-registration clinical experience within NHS mental health acute wards or PICU environments.
• Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written English with proven capability in updating electronic health records (EHR/RIO/SystmOne).
• Physical Safety Training: Valid certification in approved physical intervention and de-escalation training (e.g., PMVA / MAPA / Breakaway).
• Compliance & Vetting: Valid UK Right to Work, Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, and complete occupational health immunization clearance.
