Job summary

Registered Mental Health Nurse post at Cygnet Appletree, a women's mental health hospital near Durham run by Cygnet Health Care. The role centres on assessing patients with complex needs, keeping care plans current and administering medicines under set procedures.

Hours are 42 a week, and the hospital includes Pippin Ward, a specialist PICU, and Bramley Ward, an intensive support service for women with personality disorder.

Qualifications

• Current UK PIN is required.
• At least 6 months post-registration experience.
• Experience as RMN or RNLD desirable.
• Enhanced DBS check required.

Responsibilities

• Produce detailed written reports from nursing assessments and observations.
• Work with management to develop the service, audit and improve quality.
• Attend training and CPD to build knowledge.
• Keep individual care plans complete with service users and families, in line with NMC guidelines.
• Administer medicines following procedures and guidelines.

What the job involves

• Produce detailed written reports from nursing assessments and observations
• Work with the management team to develop the service, audit and improve quality
• Attend all training and engage in CPD to build knowledge and promote nursing
• Keep individual care plans complete and maintained with service users, relatives and other healthcare professionals, under NMC guidelines
• Administer medicines in line with healthcare procedure and Healthcare Commission guidelines

What’s required

Registration & licences

• Current UK PIN

Experience

• Experienced RMN or RNLD
• At least 6 months' post-registration experience

Skills & knowledge

• Maintain documentation, undertake audits and demonstrate integrity
• Good understanding of current nursing practice
• Commitment to patient recovery to monitor, manage and reduce risk
• Compassion, resilience and a commitment to supporting service user independence
