Job summary

Vetro Recruitment is seeking a Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) for a dedicated neurological care facility in Pontypridd. The role covers day, night and weekend shifts, supporting residents with dementia and brain injury through assessment, treatment and rehabilitation.

Applicants must have NMC registration and mental health or neurological care experience, with safeguarding knowledge and current restraint training.

Qualifications

• Valid NMC registration with a current PIN.
• Experience in mental health or neurological care environments.
• Knowledge of safeguarding, restraint (PMVA), and recovery-focused practices.
• Current restraint training to manage behavioural challenges.
• Eligible to work in the UK with right to work and clear UK employment history.

Responsibilities

• Administering medication and monitoring side effects.
• Reviewing and updating individualised care plans aligned with sector frameworks.
• Liaising with MDT, families and care professionals, to develop care plans for residents with complex neurological needs.
• Supporting residents holistically, addressing social, religious, and physical needs.
• Ensuring safeguarding protocols are followed and restrictive practices are used appropriately.

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated registered mental health nurse (RMN) to join a purpose-built neurological care facility in Pontypridd. As a registered mental health nurse (RMN), you will play a vital role in providing expert assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation for residents with neurological conditions, including dementia and brain injury. This opportunity offers flexibility with day, night, and weekend shifts, enabling you to make a meaningful impact within a specialised mental health environment that adheres to rigorous safeguarding and sector standards such as Ofsted and CIW.

Key Responsibilities

• Administering medication and monitoring side effects, including extrapyramidal symptoms, in accordance with neurological care standards.
• Reviewing and updating individualised care plans aligned with sector frameworks like EBD, SEN, and SEMH.
• Liaising with multidisciplinary teams (MDT), including families and care professionals, to develop and refine care and treatment plans for residents with complex neurological needs.
• Supporting residents holistically, ensuring social, religious, and physical needs are met, promoting recovery and independence.
• Ensuring safeguarding protocols are followed and restrictive practices are applied responsibly, within legal and ethical guidelines.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Valid NMC registration with a current PIN, qualifying you as an RMN or RGN with mental health experience.
• Proven clinical experience working in mental health or neurological care environments, including low- or medium-security settings or specialist neuro-rehab units.
• Demonstrable knowledge of sector-specific safeguarding, restraint (PMVA), and recovery-focused practices.
• Restraint training (preferably current) to manage behavioural challenges safely.
• Eligible to work in the UK, with evidence of right to work and clear UK employment history.
