About The Role

About this role:

We are looking for Registered Mental Health Nurses (RMN) and Learning Disability Nurses (RNLD) with a passion for providing excellent, professional, and effective care while ensuring our service users feel safe and respected. If you believe you make a difference in the lives of those living with chronic, complex mental and sometimes physical health needs, this could be the role for you. You will be working in a fast-paced but rewarding environment with a great team.

Scope of the role:

  • Collaboratively working with patients and their families to produce and update person-centred care plans, writing accurate and reflective documentation including daily entries, nursing reports, incident reports, handovers, and risk assessments based on nursing assessments and observations.
  • Contributing to service development by auditing and implementing site improvement plans.
  • Completing medication administration and management on the unit.

Essential Skills:

  • Therapeutic rapport
  • Registered Nurse (Mental Health or Learning Disability)
  • Knowledge of mental health act, mental capacity act, and associated legislation.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
  • Experience working in a psychiatric hospital or large nursing home.
  • A good understanding and experience of service user’s diagnoses, treatment, and recovery.
  • Good IT Skills – able to document/report service-user care records and incidents accurately on mobile devices and computers.
  • A positive ‘can do’ attitude and a team player, adaptable to a dynamic environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work collaboratively as a Primary/Named Nurse/Key worker within the multidisciplinary team, liaising with professionals and other agencies.
  • Develop, implement, evaluate, and record patient-centred care plans.
  • Facilitate Nursing Home activities.
  • Assess, identify, and care plan for risk management issues; communicate concerns within the team.
  • Ensure effective communication with patients, carers, visitors, and staff.
  • Use evidence-based practice in daily clinical activities.
  • Implement and ensure effective use of the Mental Health Act where necessary.
  • Administer medication safely and according to policy.
  • Adhere to policies and procedures at all times.
  • Assist in developing and revising local policies and procedures.
  • Supervise supplies and equipment, ensuring adequacy and proper use.
  • Maintain financial records as necessary.
  • Set an example to staff and participate in teaching and training programs.
  • Identify own development and training needs.
  • Maintain a learning environment and assist in staff induction.
  • Participate in clinical supervision and mentor staff.
  • Perform additional duties appropriate to grade.
  • Communicate policies effectively within and outside the service.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with clients, relatives, and other agencies.
