Job summary

Family Care Group in Leominster, Herefordshire, seeks a Registered Manager to lead a 2-bedroom children's residential home for learning disabilities and complex needs. You will provide inspirational leadership, deliver child-centered care, and ensure regulatory compliance.

You will work with multidisciplinary teams to create a warm, safe, therapeutic environment, promote safeguarding, and achieve outstanding outcomes under the Children’s Homes Regulations and Ofsted.

Qualifications

  • Experience managing or deputising within a children's residential home.
  • Thorough understanding of the Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards.
  • Experience supporting children with learning disabilities, autism and complex needs.
  • Strong safeguarding knowledge and experience managing safeguarding concerns.

  • Create a positive culture built around safeguarding, inclusion and outstanding childcare practice.
  • Ensure compliance with Children's Homes Regulations 2015, Quality Standards and Ofsted requirements.
  • Recruit, supervise, develop and retain a skilled workforce.
  • Manage staffing levels, rotas and participate in the on-call management system.
  • Lead safeguarding investigations, serious incident management and statutory notifications.
  • Oversee high-quality care planning, risk assessments, behaviour support plans and placement planning.
  • Ensure communication methods are adapted to meet individual needs, including PECS, Makaton, visual supports and assistive communication where appropriate.
  • Promote Positive Behaviour Support approaches and minimise restrictive practices.
  • Work collaboratively with therapists, psychologists, clinicians, schools, social workers and families to achieve excellent outcomes.
  • Monitor children's progress across education, health, emotional wellbeing, communication, independence and social development.
  • Complete Regulation 45 reports, quality improvement plans and quality assurance audits.
  • Lead the home through Ofsted inspections and continuous service improvement.
  • Manage budgets, resources and operational performance effectively.

Registered Manager - Children's Residential Home (Learning Disabilities)

Family Care Group is seeking an experienced, compassionate and ambitious Registered Manager to lead one of our specialist 2 bedded children's residential homes in Leominster, Herefordshire supporting children and young people with learning disabilities, autism and additional complex needs.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead a team committed to delivering exceptional, child-centred care in a nurturing, therapeutic environment where every child is supported to achieve their full potential.

As Registered Manager, you will provide inspirational leadership, ensuring the home delivers outstanding care, achieves excellent outcomes for children and remains fully compliant with the Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and Ofsted requirements.

About The Role

You’ll be responsible for creating a warm, safe and therapeutic home where children feel valued, respected and empowered. Working closely with the Residential Operations Manager and multidisciplinary professionals, you’ll ensure every child receives highly individualised care that reflects their communication, sensory, emotional, behavioural and physical needs.

You’ll champion a trauma-informed, therapeutic and person-centred approach, supporting children to develop independence, communication skills, confidence and positive life experiences.

Key Responsibilities

We're looking for someone who is passionate about improving the lives of children with learning disabilities and additional needs and who can lead with confidence, compassion and integrity.

You will have:

  • Experience managing or deputising within a children's residential home.
  • A thorough understanding of the Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards.
  • Experience supporting children with learning disabilities, autism and complex additional needs.
  • Strong safeguarding knowledge and experience managing safeguarding concerns.

Essential Qualifications
