Job summary

Sgscare is seeking an experienced Registered Manager for a dedicated children's residential home in Lancaster. You will oversee operations, ensure high‑quality care and maintain regulatory compliance to support each child’s development.

The role requires leadership of a skilled team, strong safeguarding practice and budget management, with the goal of achieving Good Ofsted ratings and ongoing improvements.

Qualifications

• Level 3/4 in Children's Residential Care or Children's Workforce is essential.
• Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare is preferred; if not held, enrol within six months of starting.

Responsibilities

• Develop and oversee high‑quality, individualised care plans.
• Build, lead and develop a stable, motivated staff team.
• Maintain high standards in line with The Quality Standards and the home's Statement of Purpose.
• Work collaboratively with families, professionals and external agencies.
• Manage safeguarding concerns, complaints and child protection matters effectively.
• Lead care planning, reviews and key worker systems.
• Manage the home's budgets and commercial performance.
• Drive continuous improvement with the aim of at least a Good Ofsted judgement, with Outstanding as the long‑term goal.

Children and Young People aged 8–18 years with complex needs, learning difficulties, mental health needs, and associated behavioural, emotional and social difficulties.

Qualifications Required

• Level 3/4 in Children's Residential Care or Children's Workforce (essential)
• Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (preferred). If not already achieved, you must enrol within six months of starting.

Experience Required

• Minimum of 2 years' experience within children's residential care.
• At least 1 year in a managerial or supervisory role within the last 5 years.
• Strong understanding of The Quality Standards, SCCIF, childcare legislation and regulatory requirements.
• Experience supporting children with behavioural, emotional and social difficulties, including managing challenging behaviour.
• Full UK driving licence.

This is a specialist 5‑bed mixed‑gender children's home providing a safe, nurturing and family‑style environment for children and young people with complex needs and learning difficulties. The service is focused on helping every young person achieve their full potential through tailored care, encouragement and therapeutic support.
