Job summary

Espoir Recruitment is seeking an experienced Registered Manager to lead a fully operational Children's Residential Home in Bolton. You will be responsible for the leadership, management and development of the home, ensuring outstanding care and compliance with Ofsted and regulatory standards.

You will lead a dedicated staff team, implement strong safeguarding practices, and drive continuous improvement across all areas of the service.

Qualifications

• Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent) as mandatory.
• Minimum of 2 years' management experience in the last 5 years within a Children's Residential Setting.
• Proven experience supervising teams in residential childcare and safeguarding responsibilities.
• Strong knowledge of Ofsted requirements, Children’s Homes Regulations and Quality Standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day management of the Children's Residential Home.
• Ensure compliance with Children’s Homes Regulations 2015, Quality Standards and Ofsted.
• Promote safeguarding, child-centred practice and positive outcomes.
• Supervise, coach and develop staff through performance management.
• Oversee care planning, risk management and incident reporting.
• Manage the home's budget and occupancy in collaboration with placing authorities.
• Build relationships with social workers, families and education providers.
• Oversee recruitment, induction and ongoing staff development.
• Drive continuous service improvement through audits and action plans.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Registered Manager to lead a fully operational Children's Residential Home in Bolton. This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established service with a positive reputation and a previous GOOD Ofsted rating, providing high-quality care and support to children and young people with complex emotional and behavioural needs.

As Registered Manager, you will have overall responsibility for the leadership, management, and development of the home, ensuring the continued delivery of outstanding care and positive outcomes for children and young people. You will lead a dedicated staff team, maintain regulatory compliance, and drive continuous improvement across all areas of the service.

Key Responsibilities

• Hold responsibility for the day-to-day management of the Children's Residential Home.
• Maintain full compliance with the Children’s Homes Regulations 2015, Quality Standards, and Ofsted requirements.
• Promote a culture focused on safeguarding, child-centred practice, and positive outcomes.
• Lead, motivate, and develop a multidisciplinary team through effective supervision, coaching, and performance management.
• Ensure robust care planning and risk management systems are in place and consistently reviewed.
• Manage the home's budget efficiently and responsibly.
• Develop and maintain positive relationships with placing authorities, social workers, families, education providers, and external professionals.
• Oversee recruitment, induction, training, and retention of staff.
• Monitor and improve service quality through audits, action plans, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Ensure all incidents, safeguarding concerns, and notifications are appropriately managed and reported.
• Take responsibility for occupancy management and maintaining strong local authority relationships.

Essential Requirements

• Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent) or willingness to complete within required timescales.
• Minimum of 2 years' experience within the last 5 years in a management role within a Children’s Residential Setting.
• Proven experience managing or supervising teams within residential childcare.
• Strong understanding of Ofsted requirements, Children’s Homes Regulations, and Quality Standards.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
• Experience managing safeguarding concerns and complex behaviours.

Desirable Requirements

• Previous experience as an Ofsted Registered Manager.
• Track record of achieving GOOD or OUTSTANDING Ofsted outcomes.
• Experience supporting service development and quality improvement initiatives.
• Knowledge of therapeutic and trauma-informed care models.
