Job description

Registered Care Home Manager - Residential & Nursing

Location: East Sussex

Salary: £50,000 - £55,000 per annum

Contract: Full Time | Permanent

CQC Rating: Good

Lead a Good-Rated Care Home Through Its Next Stage of Development

Are you an experienced Registered Care Home Manager looking for an opportunity where you can genuinely shape the future of a service?

We are recruiting on behalf of an established care provider seeking an experienced and commercially aware Registered Care Home Manager to lead a medium-sized, Good-rated care home in East Sussex.

The home is an established residential and dementia service with a Good CQC rating, strong occupancy and an experienced team. The service is entering an exciting period of development, with plans to introduce nursing care for a small number of residents alongside its existing residential provision.

This represents an excellent opportunity to take responsibility for a successful and well-established home while working closely with senior leadership to shape its next chapter and support the introduction of nursing care.

The successful candidate does not need to be a Registered Nurse, although previous experience managing or working within a nursing care environment would be highly advantageous.

The Role

As Registered Home Manager, you will have overall responsibility for the leadership, quality, operational and commercial performance of the home.

Your focus will be on maintaining the home's Good CQC standards, strong occupancy and positive culture, while also leading it through its next stage of development.

Working closely with senior leadership and experienced clinical support, you will play an important role in introducing nursing provision into the service, ensuring the right staffing, governance and operational structures are in place.

The nursing element will form only part of the overall home, with the service remaining predominantly focused on residential and dementia care.

You’ll have the opportunity to help shape the future staffing and leadership structure of the home, develop the existing team and ensure the service is appropriately prepared to support residents with increasingly complex needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strong, visible and inspirational leadership across the home.
  • Maintain and build upon the home's Good CQC rating and existing standards.
  • Take full responsibility for the day-to-day operational performance of the service.
  • Deliver consistently high standards of person-centred residential and dementia care.
  • Work alongside senior leadership and clinical support to introduce nursing provision into the home.
  • Support the service through the regulatory, operational and staffing requirements associated with the development of nursing care.
  • Recruit, coach, mentor and develop colleagues as the service evolves.
  • Ensure excellent governance, compliance, safeguarding and quality assurance.
  • Maintain strong occupancy and support the continued commercial performance of the home.
  • Manage staffing, budgets and resources effectively.
  • Build strong relationships with residents, relatives, healthcare professionals, commissioners and the local community.
  • Work collaboratively with senior operational and clinical leadership to drive continuous improvement.
About You
  • Previous experience as a Registered Care Home Manager within elderly residential, dementia or nursing care.
  • A Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health & Social Care, or equivalent management qualification.
  • A strong understanding of CQC regulations, safeguarding, governance and quality assurance.
  • A proven track record of achieving and maintaining positive CQC outcomes.
  • Experience managing occupancy, staffing, budgets and commercial performance.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to develop, motivate and hold teams accountable.
  • The confidence to lead an established service through change and further development.
  • Excellent communication and relationship‑building abilities.
  • A hands‑on and visible approach to leadership.
  • A genuine passion for delivering excellent outcomes for residents.
What's on Offer?
  • Salary of £50,000 - £55,000 per annum.
  • Take leadership of an established Good-rated care home.
  • Join a service with strong occupancy and solid foundations already in place.
  • Play a key role in introducing nursing care alongside the home's existing residential and dementia provision.
  • Work closely with experienced senior operational and clinical leadership.
  • Opportunity to influence the future staffing, structure and direction of the service.
  • Join an established provider with a strong focus on quality and continuous improvement.
  • Long-term opportunity to make a genuine impact on the home and the people it supports.
