Job summary

Civic Recruitment Limited is seeking a Registered Building Inspector for a 3 months contract with a local authority. Umbrella pay rate of £452.23 per day applies.

The role focuses on delivering a professional Building Control service, including plan assessments and site inspections, to ensure compliance with Building Regulations and related legislation. The successful candidate will assess applications, conduct inspections, provide technical guidance, and support enforcement where needed.

Qualifications

• Experience in Building Control, Building Surveying, Construction or related property discipline.
• Ability to interpret and apply Building Regulations.
• Experience in plan assessments and/or site inspections.
• Membership in RICS or CABE.
• Degree-level education in Building Surveying, Construction, Building Control or related discipline.
• Registered Building Inspector status.
• Band B General Registration with the Building Safety Regulator, or willingness to achieve it.
• Additional professional qualifications relevant to Building Control.

Responsibilities

• Assess building regulation applications and plans to ensure adherence to relevant legislation, standards, and guidance.
• Conduct site inspections across various construction projects to verify compliance with approved plans and Building Regulations.
• Identify issues of non-compliance and provide practical solutions to applicants, developers, and contractors.
• Prepare detailed inspection reports and maintain accurate records of assessments and inspections.
• Support enforcement activities when breaches of Building Regulations are identified.
• Offer professional and technical advice to customers, developers, architects, contractors, and stakeholders.
• Interpret Building Regulations and associated legislation to provide consistent and accurate guidance.
• Assist applicants throughout the building control process to achieve compliance and high-quality outcomes.
• Respond to enquiries within service standards and deliver excellent customer service.

Requirements

• Experience in Building Control, Building Surveying, Construction, or a related property discipline.
• Proficiency in interpreting and applying Building Regulations.
• Experience in conducting plan assessments and/or site inspections.
• Membership in either the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) or the Chartered Association of Building Engineers (CABE).
• Degree-level education or equivalent qualification in Building Surveying, Construction, Building Control, or a related discipline.
• Registered Building Inspector status.
• Band B – General Registration with the Building Safety Regulator, or the willingness and ability to achieve this registration.
• Additional professional qualifications relevant to Building Control.

Additional Information

• Working hours are 35 hours per week.
• Bi-weekly payment schedule.
