The Role

As a Registered Building Inspector, you will play a vital role in ensuring that building control decisions across England are technically robust, proportionate, and consistent.

Working within the BSR, you will provide specialist advice to Multi-Disciplinary Teams (MDTs) on the interpretation and application of the Building Regulations 2010.

You will be responsible for reviewing and peer-reviewing complex building control submissions and offering technical guidance to caseworkers and regulatory leads.

In addition to providing clear and accessible advice, you’ll help identify procedural or technical shortcomings and advise on appropriate regulatory responses to improve safety standards and compliance.

Additionally, you will:

- Support the creation of validation templates, enforcement tools, and other resources
- Contribute to internal guidance and training for operational colleagues
- Represent the BSR in industry discussions and with standards-setting bodies
- Support evidence-based decision-making during validation discussions and regulatory panel meetings

About You

- Experience working in multi-disciplinary environments and contributing technical assurance in decision making contexts
- The ability to interpret technical and regulatory information and apply it in support of proportionate enforcement or regulatory decision making
- To be a professionally qualified building control professional, with demonstrable competence to work on higher-risk buildings and registered as a Class 3 Category H Registered Building Inspector
- To be a full member of RICS, CABE, CIOB or equivalent

The closing date for this role is Monday 2nd June 2025.
