Job summary

Itec Skills and Employment is seeking a Youth Tutor to work with young learners across Bridgend, Port Talbot, Neath and Swansea. The role focuses on delivering engaging tutoring sessions, developing personalised lesson plans, and supporting learners toward qualifications.

JGW+ funding under Welsh Government governs the program and opportunities for youth progression are emphasized. Ideal candidates will have tutoring or mentoring experience with young people, a Level 3 or degree-equivalent

Qualifications

• Experience tutoring or mentoring young people.
• Experience working with NEET individuals.
• GCSE English and Maths at grade C/5 or higher.
• Teaching qualification (PGCE/PCET) or equivalent.
• Ability to engage, motivate and support learners in a learning environment.

Responsibilities

• Deliver training sessions using diverse teaching methods to engage and progress learners.
• Develop creative lesson plans with differentiated teaching styles.
• Plan and support the learner on their individual learning journey.
• Help learners achieve qualifications to a high standard, on time.

Location: Covering Bridgend, Port Talbot, Neath and Swansea

Contract: Full-time, permanent

Hours of work: Monday to Friday 09:00am to 16:30pm

About the role

As a Youth Tutor, you will work closely with students to provide individualised tutoring sessions, support their learning needs, and inspire them to achieve their potential.

Jobs Growth Wales Plus (JGW+) is a Welsh Government initiative that provides work experience and training opportunities to young people and unemployed individuals, enhancing their employability and supporting job creation in various sectors.

Your impact

• Delivering training sessions using a variety of teaching methods to engage, support, and motivate learners to enhance their skills and progression opportunities.
• Develop creative lesson plans incorporating differentiated teaching styles and activities to ensure a quality learning experience.
• Planning and supporting the learner in their individual learning journey.
• Supporting learners to achieve their qualifications to a quality standard in a timely fashion.

What are we looking for?

• Previous experience working as a tutor, trainer, or mentor for young people.
• Previous experience working with NEET (Not in Education, Employment, or Training) individuals
• Minimum Level 3 qualification or Degree equivalent.
• Good level of Math and English GCSE C, Level 5 or above
• Ability to engage, motivate, and support young people in a learning environment.
• Ability to plan lessons, assess learner progress, and provide feedback effectively.
• PGCE, PCET or equivalent teaching/training qualification.
• Experience teaching a vocational subject
