Job summary

Itec Cardiff is seeking a Youth Tutor to deliver individualized tutoring, support learners, and inspire students to reach their potential. This on-site, full-time role contributes to Jobs Growth Wales Plus initiatives and learner progression.

You will create engaging lessons, assess progress, and provide timely feedback while supporting students toward their qualifications and skill development.

Qualifications

• Previous experience tutoring, training, or mentoring young people.
• Experience with NEET individuals.
• Math and English GCSE at grade C or higher (Level 5+).

Responsibilities

• Deliver training sessions using varied teaching methods to engage, support, and motivate learners to progress.
• Develop creative lesson plans with differentiated teaching styles.
• Plan and support the learner on their individual journey.
• Help learners achieve qualifications to a high standard within expected timelines.

Salary banding: £24,638 to £26,780

Location: Itec Cardiff (on-site)

Contract: Full-time, permanent

Hours of work: Monday to Friday 09:00am to 16:30pm

About the role

As a Youth Tutor, you will work closely with students to provide individualised tutoring sessions, support their learning needs, and inspire them to achieve their potential.

Jobs Growth Wales Plus (JGW+) is a Welsh Government initiative that provides work experience and training opportunities to young people and unemployed individuals, enhancing their employability and supporting job creation in various sectors.

Your impact

• Delivering training sessions using a variety of teaching methods to engage, support, and motivate learners to enhance their skills and progression opportunities.
• Develop creative lesson plans incorporating differentiated teaching styles and activities to ensure a quality learning experience.
• Planning and supporting the learner in their individual learning journey.
• Supporting learners to achieve their qualifications to a quality standard in a timely fashion.

What are we looking for?

• Previous experience working as a tutor, trainer, or mentor for young people.
• Previous experience working with NEET (Not in Education, Employment, or Training) individuals
• Minimum Level 3 qualification or Degree equivalent.
• Good level of Math and English GCSE C, Level 5 or above
• Ability to engage, motivate, and support young people in a learning environment.
• Ability to plan lessons, assess learner progress, and provide feedback effectively.
