Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an experienced senior operations leader to oversee water treatment and distribution services for a large customer base. The role requires steering regulatory compliance, financial performance, and capital programmes while guiding a team of about 150 staff.

Based in the United Kingdom and operating in a highly regulated environment, you will drive continuous improvement, resilience, and strategic change initiatives across treatment plants, networks and reservoirs.

Qualifications

• Proven senior operational management experience in water/utilities or regulated asset-intensive sectors.
• Strong knowledge of water operations, management and regulatory compliance.
• Excellent leadership and people management capabilities.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Degree-level qualification; professional accreditation would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead the treatment and supply of drinking water to approximately 2 million customers.
• Drive operational excellence across water treatment, distribution, maintenance and reservoir management activities.
• Deliver financial performance against a significant operational budget while supporting capital investment programmes.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory, environmental and water quality standards.
• Lead the response to operational incidents and ensure excellent service recovery for customers.
• Build strong relationships with customers, regulators, contractors and key stakeholders.
• Drive continuous improvement, operational efficiency and strategic change programmes.
• Develop future leaders through coaching, mentoring and succession planning.
• Take overall responsibility for operational performance across regional water treatment and distribution activities.
• Lead a team of around 150 people.
