Job summary

Red Sky Personnel Ltd. is seeking a Regional Technical Estimation Manager in Birmingham to lead regional estimating activities and provide dedicated technical account management for a key AV client.

You will combine leadership of the estimating function with hands-on technical support, solution development and client relationship management, ensuring timely, competitive quotations and seamless project delivery.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate regional estimating activities, ensuring quotations are accurate, consistent and commercially viable.
• Assess equipment, labour, engineering and project delivery requirements when preparing estimates.
• Ensure quotations and supporting documentation are completed within agreed deadlines.
• Maintain the regional estimating log, tracking opportunities, workloads, priorities and quotation progress.
• Support the sales team in developing technically suitable and commercially competitive AV solutions.
• Build and maintain relationships with manufacturers, distributors and suppliers to secure pricing and technical support.
• Identify opportunities to improve estimating processes and quotation quality.
• Keep up to date with new AV technologies, products and industry developments.
• Work alongside the Account Manager to develop and maintain strong client relationships as a trusted technical advisor.
• Develop AV solutions that meet client standards and requirements.
• Prepare accurate technical and commercial quotations for client projects.
• Review system designs and documentation with post-sales design team for alignment.
• Attend regular client account meetings to review progress, opportunities and risks.
• Maintain visibility of the project pipeline and support proactive planning.
• Provide technical guidance to Project Managers during installation and delivery.

Salary: £53,000 £58,000 per annum

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Regional Technical Estimation Manager to lead regional estimating activities while providing dedicated technical account management for a key client within the audio-visual (AV) integration industry.

This is a senior technical and commercial role combining leadership of the estimating function with hands-on technical support, solution development and client relationship management. You will work closely with Sales, Technical Design, Project Management, suppliers and clients to ensure quotations are accurate, commercially competitive and delivered within agreed timescales.

The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining technical quality, improving estimating processes and ensuring a seamless transition from initial client requirements through quotation, design, installation and project completion.

Key Responsibilities

Regional Technical Estimating

• Lead and coordinate regional estimating activities, ensuring quotations are accurate, consistent and commercially viable.
• Assess equipment, labour, engineering and project delivery requirements when preparing estimates.
• Ensure quotations and supporting documentation are completed within agreed deadlines.
• Maintain the regional estimating log, tracking opportunities, workloads, priorities and quotation progress.

Technical Account Management

• Work alongside the Account Manager to develop and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted technical advisor.
• Develop AV solutions that meet agreed client standards and requirements.
• Design bespoke or complex AV solutions where requirements fall outside existing standards.
• Prepare accurate technical and commercial quotations for client projects.
• Review system designs, schematics and technical documentation with the post-sales design team to ensure alignment with the original design intent.
• Attend regular client account meetings to review project progress, upcoming opportunities, technical requirements and potential risks.
• Maintain visibility of the client's project pipeline and support proactive technical planning.
• Provide technical guidance to Project Managers during installation and delivery, helping resolve issues and clarify requirements.
• Ensure continuity throughout the project lifecycle, from initial enquiry and quotation through to design, installation and completion.

Team Leadership and Development

• Support the development of team members through coaching, training and ongoing performance management.
• Maintain a skills matrix and identify future training and development requirements.
• Promote high standards of organisation, professionalism, teamwork and customer service.
• Manage competing priorities effectively, ensuring the team meets agreed targets and deadlines.

Essential Skills and Experience

• Familiarity with technical project documentation and the AV installation lifecycle.
• Experience attending industry exhibitions and manufacturer events.
