Job summary

GAP Hire Solutions is seeking a Regional Pump Engineer to service and repair a range of pumps, hoses and generators from our depot in Bury St Edmunds and at customer sites across the region.

You will be responsible for repairs, maintenance, and accurate record-keeping, with a strong focus on ensuring equipment is ready when customers need it. A valid driving licence is essential for travel across sites.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a pump engineer, mechanical fitter or diesel technician.
• Knowledge of diesel engines, pumps, hoses or generators; training available.
• Experience in plant or hire industry would be beneficial.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy; ability to work under pressure.
• Customer-focused approach; team player; driving licence is essential.

Responsibilities

• Repair and maintain equipment in the depot and at customer sites.
• Attend breakdowns and service calls across the GAP fleet.
• Identify faults and repair pumps, hoses and generators; update service records.

About the role

GAP Pump Services provide advice, servicing, maintenance and repair for dewatering and sewerage pump applications including a large range of hoses, settlement tanks and water processing solutions.

As a Regional Pump Engineer you will play a pivotal role in the success of the region by ensuring that our customers can hire what they want, when they need it through the efficient servicing and maintaining a variety of pump services equipment within the GAP fleet.

You will be responsible for repairing and maintaining our equipment in the depot but also responsible for attending breakdowns across our customer sites. You will identify and repair any faults or damage to equipment including pumps, hoses and generators, whilst accurately updating service records.

**Please note, the position will be based out of our depot in Bury St Edmunds and therefore candidates should be suitably located.

About You

Successful applicants should demonstrate the following:

• Proven experience as a pump engineer, mechanical fitter or diesel technician
• Sound and current knowledge of diesel engines, pumps, hoses or generators is highly desirable but training will be provided.
• Experience within the plant or hire industry would be highly beneficial
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy with the ability to work effectively under pressure
• A customer-focussed approach workload and committed team player
• A valid driving licence is essential.
