Job summary

Rydon is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead PFI expiry and handback programmes within NHS facilities. You will drive planning, execution, and monitoring, coordinating with Trusts, Project Co representatives, and supply chains to ensure timely, compliant handback and transition.

The role requires strong project management within facilities management, knowledge of lifecycle/asset management, and proven ability to manage complex estates and contractor teams.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Support Handback and transition planning including document control and progress reporting.
• Collate works into packages for supply chain partners and ensure timely delivery.
• Manage works from identification through to completion and recover rechargeable works.

Overview

Are you an experienced Project Manager with a strong background in PFI expiry and handback programmes?

We're looking for a Project Manager to support the planning, execution, and monitoring of PFI expiry and handback activities, ensuring a smooth, timely, and efficient transition of PFI projects. This position will have responsibility for lifecycle works, asset condition, remedial works, compliance and transition planning through to successful handback.

Rydon Maintenance Ltd provides a range of hard facilities management and property maintenance services in partnership with a range of NHS Trusts. We provide reactive and planned maintenance to a number of NHS buildings and we work to strict timescales and safety requirements to ensure the comfort and safety of service users using these NHS facilities. With offices in the South East, to Bristol in the South West our experience has taken us across a variety of sensitive healthcare environments.

Job Purpose

We're looking for a highly organised Project Manager to join our team to manage projects associated with PFI contract expiry and handback. You will be providing dedicated support across our NHS PFI and LIFT contracts.

You'll play a key role in supporting Handback preparation and the management of works from Handback surveys.

You'll work closely with operational and technical teams, Trusts, Project Co representatives, consultants and supply chain partners, ensuring that issues are properly understood, actions are tracked and project works are delivered.

Key responsibilties include:

• Maintaining a comprehensive portfolio tracker covering external challenges, information requests, contractual notices, key deadlines and actions.
• Coordinating evidence from operational teams, helpdesks, asset and lifecycle records, compliance information and technical documentation.
• Helping to prepare clear, accurate and well‑evidenced formal responses to Trusts, consultants and Project Co representatives.
• Supporting Handback and transition planning, including document control, meeting coordination, action tracking and progress reporting.
• Collating works into clear packages for supply chain partners and coordinating their delivery.
• Project managing works from identification through to completion, ensuring actions are progressed effectively and to agreed timescales.
• Ensuring rechargeable works are appropriately identified, tracked and recovered.
• Producing concise, meaningful updates that highlight key risks, approaching deadlines, progress and decisions required.

Experience Required

• Strong Project Management experience within Facilities Management.
• Proven experience working with NHS PFI contracts.
• Previous PFI expiry, handback or exit programme experience.
• Good knowledge of lifecycle and asset management.
• Experience managing contractors across complex estates.
• Strong commercial, financial and programme management skills.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
