Job summary

Ground Control is seeking an experienced Contract Manager to own a diverse portfolio of grounds maintenance contracts across Reading and surrounding areas. You will lead field teams, manage client relationships and drive performance, with the autonomy to shape service delivery and contract outcomes.

The role demands strong leadership, a proactive approach to continuous improvement, and the ability to balance site visits with strategic oversight.

Qualifications

• Proven experience managing grounds maintenance, landscaping, facilities management or other multi-site service delivery contracts.
• Strong leadership and ability to manage field teams and hold suppliers accountable.
• Excellent client relationship management and stakeholder influence.
• Experience turning around underperforming contracts and driving improvements.
• Organisational and prioritisation skills for a fast-paced environment.
• Commercial awareness including budgets, quotes and growth opportunities.
• Energetic, proactive and able to challenge existing processes for improvements.
• Resilient, self-motivated and able to balance operational demands with service quality.
• Excellent communication and credibility with clients, teams and senior stakeholders.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the region.

Responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of grounds maintenance services across a large and varied portfolio.
• Develop and strengthen client relationships and act as primary contact.
• Manage field teams, set expectations and ensure resources are utilised effectively.
• Drive operational excellence across approximately 300+ sites.
• Take ownership of contract performance and implement improvement plans.
• Balance workload with site visits, customer requirements and administration.
• Identify opportunities for additional works and contract growth.
• Collaborate with Regional Operations Directors, Contract Managers, HSQE teams and support functions.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety standards and contractual requirements.
