Job summary

XPO Logistics in Leeds is seeking an experienced senior manager to lead four dedicated transport contracts across multiple sites. You will drive safety, profitability and customer satisfaction while shaping high performance teams and implementing improvements to meet budgets and growth targets.

You will partner with customers and internal functions to optimise open book operations, manage costs and staff development, and you will champion engagement and process discipline nationwide.

Responsibilities

• Be accountable for the operational & financial performance of 4 dedicated contracts across multiple sites.
• Promote a safety culture throughout the operation by leading by example and supporting safety campaigns.
• Provide operational leadership to the Contract Managers by setting goals and encouraging innovation.
• Develop understanding of open/closed book financial and operational metrics to meet profitability targets and customer budgets.
• Champion engagement and welfare across sites with focus on retention and minimizing attrition.
• Interact with customers to understand requirements and identify opportunities to expand relationships.
• Ensure sites comply with legislative and internal processes and take timely action when not.
• Encourage development and progression within the team and devise succession plans across sites.
• Lead continuous improvement across contracts; achieve gainshare targets for customer and XPO benefits.
• Participate in Daily processes including Night Network calls, finance reviews and QSHE meetings.

Our business is growing, and we are calling all high achieving managers, if you have a solid transport background, experience in managing dedicated transport solutions for customers across multiple sites, a good understanding of operational cost and are astute at managing a P&L - we want to hear from you!

What You’ll Do On a Typical Day

• You will be accountable for the operational & financial performance of 4 dedicated contracts in a mix of sectors operating across several sites nationally.
• Promote a safety culture throughout the operation, leading by example and actively participating and supporting safety campaigns and initiatives.
• Provide operational leadership to the team of Contract Managers by setting achievable goals and encouraging innovation.
• Develop a clear understanding of open and closed book financial and operational metrics to ensure the contract profitability targets and customers budgets are met.
• Actively champion engagement and welfare across the sites with focus on colleague retention and minimal attrition.
• Interaction with internal and external customers to understand their requirements and identify opportunities to expand current relationships.
• Ensure sites are compliant with all legislative and internal processes and procedures, taking timely and appropriate action where this is not the case.
• Encourage and support development and progression within the team and devise a clear succession plan across each site.
• Lead the continuous improvement agenda across your contracts, ensuring annual gainshare targets are achieved to deliver benefit to customers and XPO.
• Active participation in existing daily processes including Night Network calls, finance reviews & QSHE meetings.
