Regional General Manager - Dartford

Our client, a well-known logistics company, is seeking a Regional General Manager to join their team in the South.

Job type: Permanent

Key Responsibilities

1. Manage all operations of the southern branches within guidelines provided by the MD.
2. Develop and implement commercial strategies focused on profitability, market expansion, and key account retention.
3. Drive branch-level strategies to improve net profit through financial oversight, WIPS management, accurate accruals, and cost control.
4. Recommend and develop annual business plans, staffing structures, and budgets.
5. Execute approved strategies and provide timely reports on deviations or issues.
6. Lead structured succession planning, performance reviews, and continuous learning initiatives.
7. Set and uphold an ethical and compliant work culture, ensuring adherence to QHSE and compliance standards.
8. Oversee the profit and loss performance of southern branches.
9. Plan, implement, and monitor branch budgets.
10. Support teams in operational cargo movements via air, sea, and road freight.
11. Lead commercial negotiations and manage contractual agreements.
12. Collaborate with internal offices, commercial teams, agents, and global clients.
13. Ensure effective communication across internal and external stakeholders.

Requirements

1. Extensive experience in a senior executive role within a geographically diverse national or international organization.
2. Experience must be UK-based, and candidates must be based in the UK with the right to work.
3. Strong knowledge in strategic planning, financial management, operations, QHSE, and HR management.
4. Expert understanding of the international freight forwarding and logistics industry.
5. High-level customer service orientation and application of quality service principles.
6. Demonstrated leadership in driving teams to achieve goals and objectives.
7. Excellent interpersonal, public relations, and communication skills.
8. Proven negotiation skills with the ability to manage high-value client and vendor relationships.
9. Awareness of relevant regulatory environments within the logistics industry.
10. In-depth knowledge of freight forwarding, break bulk, heavy lift, and special project cargo.
11. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
12. Strong planning, organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently and within a team.
