Job summary

Pertemps Specialist Talent Solutions in the West Midlands is seeking a Field Service Engineer to cover Birmingham and the wider region. You will service, maintain and repair forklift trucks and related equipment, travelling from home to customer sites across the territory.

The role requires hands-on engineering skills, independent work, and a focus on safety, with a basic salary up to £37,000 plus bonus and overtime, plus ongoing training and career progression within a national organisation.

Qualifications

• Previous experience servicing or repairing forklift trucks or similar materials-handling equipment.
• Strong mechanical, electrical and hydraulic fault-finding skills.
• Relevant engineering qualifications or manufacturer training.
• Ability to work independently while managing a regional workload.
• A professional and customer-focused approach.
• A strong commitment to health and safety.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out planned servicing and preventative maintenance.
• Diagnosing mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults.
• Completing breakdown repairs and returning equipment to service efficiently.
• Working on both customer-owned and company-owned machinery.
• Communicating repair requirements and completion times clearly to customers.
• Ensuring all work is completed safely and to a high standard.
• Accurately completing service reports and supporting documentation.
• Managing your workload independently across an assigned geographical area.
• Maintaining excellent relationships with customers and internal service teams.
