Job summary

Stagecoach is seeking an experienced Engineering Director to lead the South region across eight maintenance depots. You will ensure safe, reliable fleet operations, compliance and high team performance while empowering staff and building strong stakeholder relationships.

You’ll report to the Managing Director and participate in strategic planning, budgeting and delivering customer value. A transport management background and willingness to travel across the South are preferred, with relocation

Qualifications

• Recognised engineering qualification.
• Experience leading engineering operations across multiple sites.
• Knowledge of health & safety, environmental and transport legislation.

Responsibilities

• Lead multi-site engineering teams to deliver safe, reliable and well-presented vehicles.
• Oversee depot facilities, premises and engineering equipment across the region.
• Promote a safety-first culture and ensure regulatory & company compliance.
• Develop team capability through coaching, mentoring and technical training.
• Build strong relationships with stakeholders including local authorities and trade unions.
• Drive continuous improvement and innovation within engineering.
• Manage performance to meet budgets, KPIs and service expectations.
• Collaborate with colleagues to improve customer satisfaction in line with CVP.

In this key senior leadership role, you’ll be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of all engineering activity, ensuring our fleet is reliable, our depots are compliant and well-managed, and our people are supported to do their best work every day. You’ll report to the Managing Director and act as one of the nominated Transport Manager's on the Operator’s Licence.
