Job summary

National Energy System Operator Limited in Warwick is seeking a lead for Regional Energy Strategic Planning (RESP) to drive whole-system planning for the West Midlands, coordinating with energy networks, authorities and stakeholders to reflect local priorities.

The role offers hybrid working, a salary of £70,000–£80,000 with a bonus up to 15%, a 28-day leave scheme and a matched pension. Applicants must have the right to work in the UK.

Qualifications

• Proven leadership across RESP or equivalent energy planning teams.
• Experience engaging with government, local authorities and regional stakeholders.
• Experience leading complex regional energy projects.
• Understanding of energy markets, asset investment and related economics.
• Knowledge of local and regional energy planning processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead on Regional Energy Strategic planning for West Midlands, aligning with RESP methodology.
• Manage a small RESP team and contribute to GB-wide RESP capabilities design.
• Engage with local stakeholders to reflect priorities in RESP design.
• Develop governance for West Midlands RESP including boards and working groups.
• Deliver RESP products and local actor support; resolve planning conflicts.
