Job summary

WMCA is seeking an Energy Research Analyst and Partnership Coordinator for the Energy Capital team in Birmingham. You will drive collaboration among local authorities, universities, and community groups to deliver the regional energy strategy and plan.

The role requires strong research, data translation, and communication skills, with a proactive mindset and ability to engage diverse audiences. Office presence with at least 2 days/week on site at Summer Lane.

Qualifications

• Experience working in the Energy sector or a related sector.
• Strong research and analytical skills, translating data into insights.
• Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Confidence communicating across technical and non-technical audiences.
• Proactive mindset and willingness to learn and collaborate.

Responsibilities

• Gather intelligence on partner activities and identify synergies across sectors.
• Create data-led reports, briefings, and visualisations to support planning.
• Share success stories and best practice to boost regional net-zero innovation.
• Contribute to regional devolution asks and national policy recommendations.
• Coordinate networking sessions and build strong internal/external relationships.
