Job summary

Build Recruitment Limited seeks an experienced Senior Design / Technical Manager to lead the design and technical function for the South Region. You will collaborate with pre-construction, commercial, operational and leadership teams to drive design from early stages through to completion.

The role demands a technically strong leader who can build relationships, manage consultants and coordinate information to meet programme requirements.

Qualifications

• Experience in Design Management / Technical Management.
• Experience in Pre-construction and PCSA environments.
• Experience with major refurbishment/construction projects.
• Knowledge of Building Regulations and compliance.
• Gateway 2 / Gateway 3 understanding.
• Golden Thread requirements.
• Experience in managing design consultants and supply chains.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical and design process across PCSA projects from pre-construction through to completion.
• Set deliverables, information release schedules, and milestones at project start.
• Drive the design programme to ensure timely submissions and construction info.
• Review drawings and proposals with focus on buildability and compliance.
• Collaborate with Lead Designers and the design team.
• Lead Design Team Meetings and ensure follow-through on actions.
• Support development of construction programmes, cost plans, and procurement strategies.
• Ensure design information and workflows are managed in Viewpoint.
• Support HRB projects and regulatory compliance.
• Coordinate Gateway 2 submissions and information quality.
• Maintain Golden Thread through to Gateway 3.
• Collaborate with operational and commercial teams on documentation.
• Assist with consultant and supply chain appointments and scopes.
• Engage with clients to manage responsibilities and expectations.
