Job summary

Arcus FM in the South West region is seeking a Senior Refrigeration Engineer stepping into a Managing Engineer role, or a current Managing Engineer looking to join a strong supermarket FM team. You will lead a team of Refrigeration Engineers with responsibility for on-call rota and budgeted maintenance across the region.

You will have 5+ years post-qualification experience in mobile refrigeration, City & Guilds Refrigeration qualifications (F-Gas), and a Full UK driving licence.

Qualifications

• Full UK driving licence is essential.
• City & Guilds Refrigeration (or equivalent) including F-Gas.
• Minimum 5 years’ post-qualification experience on a mobile basis.
• FM environment experience in supermarkets is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the team, acting as daily contact and provide guidance, training and development.
• Provide technical support and training to Refrigeration Engineers.
• Manage day-to-day staffing and on-call rota.
• Assist HR processes including return-to-work, disciplinary handling and performance reviews.

Job description

Are you a Senior Refrigeration Engineer, looking for your next step into a Managing Engineer role? Or are you already a Managing Engineer within Refrigeration looking to join a strong and stable company within the Supermarket FM area?If so we have an opportunity for you. You will reside within South West Region or the surrounding areas and have proven supermarket refrigeration experience.

You will have responsibility for a team of Refrigeration Engineers to ensure that planned and reactive maintenance tasks are completed on-time and to budget. You will also be responsible for the call-out rota and ensure adequate and safe cover at all time

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise the team, acting as their daily point of contact, and provide management support, guidance, training, and development to ensure a consistent and high level of customer service.
• Provide technical support and training to your team of Refrigeration Engineers.
• Control staffing on a day-to-day basis, including management of the on-call rota.
• Assist the Area Support Manager with relevant HR processes, including:
• Completion of return-to-work forms
• Handling and reporting disciplinary incidents
• Conducting performance review meetings
• Managing underperformance on a day-to-day basis
• Scheduling holiday and absence cover
• Investigating, recording, and escalating accidents or near misses in line with Health & Safety policy
• Provide technical support as required, including advice regarding major operational issues and assistance during major incidents.
• Assist the team in delivering high-quality PPM work.
• Work with the Area Support Manager to deal with and make safe all Health & Safety related issues within your area and across the engineering team, escalating where necessary, including matters relating to PPE.
• Support effective budgetary management of parts and materials usage, reporting any overspend and budget variances.
• Attend client and management meetings on behalf of the business within your region.

About You

You’ll enjoy working autonomously in a pressurised environment and be able to prioritise a complex and demanding workload. You’ll have excellent written and verbal communication skills, enabling you to communicate operational issues effectively within your region. You’ll be customer-service driven and enjoy working within a people-focused environment.

Essential & Desirable Requirements

• Full UK driving licence (essential)
• City & Guilds qualified in Refrigeration (or equivalent), including F-Gas
• Minimum 5 years’ post-qualification experience working on a mobile basis within your chosen field
• Demonstrable management/supervisory experience (desirable)
• Experience within an FM environment and Refrigeration Engineering experience within supermarkets
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and use diplomacy with clients and colleagues
• Ability to supervise engineers in a pressurised environment whilst dealing with store teams and members of the public
• Capable of prioritising a complex and demanding workload

Other Factors

As our clients predominantly operate on a 24/7 basis, there is a requirement to be flexible with working hours to protect customer service levels and provide continuity of service, including weekend working and on-call cover.
