Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Refrigeration Engineer role based in Stourbridge. The Refrigeration Engineer will install, commission, and maintain commercial refrigeration and air conditioning systems, including tailor-made refrigerated cabinets. Day-to-day tasks include diagnosing faults, performing repairs, carrying out preventive maintenance, and ensuring systems operate safely and efficiently, with particular attention to CO2-based technologies where applicable. The role involves completing service reports, adhering to industry standards and company procedures, and coordinating with colleagues to deliver high-quality engineering solutions. The Refrigeration Engineer will interact with customers on-site, provide clear communication about work performed, and support excellent customer service.

Qualifications

• Strong maintenance and repair skills for commercial refrigeration and air conditioning systems, including fault-finding and troubleshooting.
• Experience working with CO2 refrigeration systems and a solid understanding of relevant safety and regulatory requirements.
• Proven ability in preventive maintenance, including scheduled inspections, performance checks, and system optimization.
• Background in mechanical engineering or a related technical discipline, with practical experience in refrigeration or HVAC.
• Effective customer service skills, including clear communication, professional conduct on client sites, and a focus on service quality.
• Relevant technical certifications or trade qualifications in refrigeration, air conditioning, or HVAC (e.g., NVQ/City & Guilds or equivalent).
• Knowledge of electrical and control systems associated with refrigeration equipment is beneficial.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel locally for site visits and service calls.
• Ability to work independently, follow health and safety procedures, and maintain accurate service documentation.
