Job summary

Mid Devon District Council is seeking a Full-Time Recreation Assistant (Wetside) in Crediton to help provide safe, welcoming leisure facilities for visitors. You will guard the pool, assist customers, and uphold cleanliness and safety standards across the site.

The role includes working 37 hours weekly on a 4-week rota, with a salary of £26,403–£28,142 and opportunities for progression within the leisure service.

Qualifications

• Experience in a customer-facing environment is essential.
• Able to work well in a team and adapt to changing situations.
• Enthusiasm for developing a career in the leisure sector.
• NPLQ is preferred; training can be provided if needed.

About the Role

As a Recreation Assistant (Wetside), you will play a vital role in ensuring customers have a safe and enjoyable experience while using our facilities. Your responsibilities will include:

• Providing lifeguard cover and maintaining the safety of all swimming pool users.
• Delivering outstanding customer service and creating a positive experience for all visitors.
• Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and presentation throughout the leisure facilities.
• Ensuring all health and safety procedures and operational guidelines are always followed.

About You

We're looking for someone who:

• Has experience working in a customer-facing environment.
• Works well as part of a team and can adapt to changing situations.
• Is enthusiastic about learning and developing a career within the leisure sector.
• Ideally holds a current National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ), however training can be given.
• A First Aid at Work qualification is desirable but not essential.
