Job summary

South Norfolk and Broadland Councils are recruiting a lifeguard for Wymondham Leisure Centre. You will supervise the pool and dry side areas, maintain cleanliness, and help set up activities for centre events and tours from schools. A real focus on customer service and safety is essential.

Shifts include early, late and weekend work. A swim test may be required and transport means are needed due to the leisure site layout. Closing date 6 September 2026.

Qualifications

• RLSS/NPLQ National Pool Lifeguard qualification (NPLQ) required or equivalent.
• Good concentration and clear, professional communication with customers.
• Awareness of Health & Safety and safeguarding in leisure environments desirable.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and maintain cleanliness of the pool and dry side areas to ensure a safe environment.
• Assist with setting up activities within the centre and with tours from the public and schools.
• Provide excellent customer service to members of the public.
• Be flexible across a range of shifts including earlies, lates and weekends.

About the role

Wymondham Leisure Centre has some of the best facilities in the area, and each week we run over 90 classes as well as a popular 50-week swim school programme. We are looking to welcome a motivated individual with an interest in swimming, fitness and wellbeing to join us. You will be a valued member of our busy team, will work a range of shifts and will provide excellent customer service to members of the public.

The role will involve supervising and maintaining cleanliness of the pool and dry side areas, ensuring a safe environment for all areas. You will also be involved in setting up activities within the centre, assisting with tours from the public and schools and ensuring our facility is clean, well run and ready for business.

Our teams work across our leisure centres, so you need to have your own means of transport and enjoy this flexible working style.

About You

With an RLSS/NPLQ National Pool Lifeguard qualification (NPLQ), you will need good concentration skills with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with our customers. Previous experience in a leisure centre or similar environment, together with an awareness of Health & Safety and Safeguarding requirements within the leisure industry is desirable.
