Job summary

Forward Trust is seeking a Recovery Worker - Peer Supporter Lead for HMP Wormwood Scrubs and HMP Brixton. You will lead peer supporters, develop peer-led interventions and work with an integrated healthcare team to support recovery and wellbeing.

You will recruit, train and supervise peers, foster cross-prison collaboration, and promote recovery-oriented practice while maintaining safeguarding and confidentiality. Evening and weekend shifts are required.

Qualifications

• Experience in substance misuse, recovery, health and wellbeing.
• Understanding lived experience and peer-led approaches.
• Ability to build positive relationships with service users.
• Experience in one-to-one or group-based support.
• Recruit, train, motivate and supervise peer supporters or volunteers.
• Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, train and supervise peer supporters within the prison.
• Develop and support peer-led interventions and activities.
• Enable peer supporters to work across prison wings.
• Encourage service users to take responsibility for health and recovery.
• Support engagement with treatment and recovery pathways.
• Signpost and support service users with information and guidance.
• Work with healthcare and prison staff to provide joined-up support.
• Develop relationships with healthcare providers and wider prison services.
• Promote recovery and engagement amongst peers.
• Contribute to ongoing development of peer support in the prison.
