Job summary

Society of St James (SSJ) in Portsmouth, Hampshire, is recruiting for an experienced practitioner to develop a Recovery Service for clients addressing drug and alcohol use. The role combines group facilitation, one-to-one support and trauma-informed practice within a dynamic, community-based setting.

Based in Portsmouth, the position runs Monday to Thursday 9am–5pm with potential weekend/evening work. Permanent contract, salary scale £21,880.54–£24,779.19 per annum for 30 hours per week.

Qualifications

• Experience with Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) model.
• Proven ability to confidently facilitate groups and deliver one-to-one support.
• Excellent listening, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative team.
• Strong organisational skills to keep timely client records and manage daily administrative tasks.
• Proficient in identifying and managing risk safely.
• High level of self-awareness and understanding of Equal Opportunities principles.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate group sessions and provide one-to-one support.
• Offer emotional support both online via Zoom and in person.
• Attend and arrange multi-agency meetings and liaise with internal/external services.
• Help run a busy open-plan service including answering phones.
• Keep daily records of clients’ welfare in the team and database.
• Take clients to appointments or help arrange transport to them.
• Organise off-site activities for clients and the service.
