Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT) is seeking a receptionist/clerical officer to provide reception and administrative support to a busy Sexual Health and Contraception Service for 37.5 hours per week.

You will greet visitors, confirm patient demographics, record attendances in INFORM, book appointments, and maintain a tidy reception area. You will also answer calls, arrange interpreters, and travel across Greater Manchester on a flexible rota. Sponsorship not offered.

Qualifications

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work calmly under pressure using initiative.
  • Good general education and previous experience dealing with patients or customers.
  • Good level of computer literacy.

Responsibilities

  • Greet all visitors at the reception area and ascertain their requirements.
  • Clarify demographics for every patient contact face to face and via telephone.
  • Enter clinic attendances and outcomes onto INFORM within specified time scales.
  • Book appointments, update attendances and action referrals.
  • Maintain the reception waiting area in an orderly state at all times.
  • Answer telephone calls courteously, direct inquiries, and take messages as needed.
  • Arrange and respond to transport-Interpreter requests and maintain confidentiality and security.
  • Work flexibly across the service and across Greater Manchester as required.

Job description

We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic receptionist/clerical officer to provide reception and administrative support to a busy Sexual Health and Contraception Service for 37.5 hours per week. Working as part of a friendly admin team you will have excellent communication skills and be able to work calmly under pressure using your own initiative, with the ability to prioritise work to meet deadlines., Greet all visitors attending the reception area, ascertain their requirements and respond to those requirements accordingly.

Clarify demographics for every patient contact face to face and via telephone and ensure systems are updated regularly.

Enter clinic attendances and outcomes onto INFORM in the identified time scales and to the identified standards

Book appointments,update attendances and action referrals.

Maintain the reception waiting area to an orderly state at all times.

Answer telephone calls courteously and politely, direct enquires appropriately and take messages as necessary, liaise with other departments where appropriate.

Arrange and respond to transport-Interpreter requests as directed. Maintain the confidentiality, safety and security of the reception area reporting any adverse matters to senior staff.

Work flexibly across the service as required.

Essentially, we are looking for a good standard of general education along with previous experience of dealing with patients or customers, and a good level of computer literacy.

We would expect the candidate to be a good team player with a flexible approach to work, providing assistance to your colleagues and cover for sickness and annual leave, helping to ensure an effective administrative service at all times.

The post holder would be based at Lance Burn Health Centre and travel across Greater Manchester as required. The post holder will work Monday to Saturday on a flexible rota basis.
