Job summary

We are looking for a receptionist/administrator with good people skills to join our friendly team.

You will need to possess a high level of organisation skills, excellent communication skills, and a good team spirit.

Providing high-quality customer care is an integral part of the role. You should be self-motivated and confident in using your own initiative within the role's limits.

Main duties of the job
  • Responsibilities:
  • Open and close the practice
  • Perform room checks at the end of the day
  • Assist with the smooth running of the practice
  • Greet all visitors and telephone callers professionally and courteously
  • Register new patients
  • Call/recall patients on the chronic disease and long-term conditions registers
  • Make appointments on Emis Web and submit triages for patients unable to do so
  • Handle telephone queries and prescription requests from patients
  • File patient records and handle post
  • Perform ad hoc tasks as requested by the Practice Manager or partners

Keats Surgery is based in Edmonton, with good travel links by car and public transport.

Our dedicated team includes 2 GPs, 2 nurses, and 8 reception/admin staff.

Job responsibilities
  • Answer telephone calls promptly and deal with enquiries courteously
  • Book, cancel, and amend patient appointments
  • Oversee the practice's demands and workflow during the day
  • Register new patients within the catchment area
  • Handle internal and external post
  • Scan and action clinical correspondence per GP instructions
  • Work independently and as part of a team
  • Previous experience is essential
  • Be flexible to cover shifts at short notice due to staff holidays or sickness
