Job summary

Minerva Defence in the United Kingdom is seeking an engineer to build and maintain a high‑fidelity UAV simulation environment. You will develop real-time C++ simulation software, model vehicle dynamics, and integrate flight control, autonomy, and ground-control systems to prove software before deployment.

You will work across multiple software stacks, pursue automated testing in CI/CD, and contribute to flight testing to validate models against real data.

Qualifications

• Proven experience writing high-performance, modern C++ with real-time constraints.
• Willingness to work across application code, engine, networking, tooling and build systems.
• Comfortable with version control and CI/CD, and automated testing.
• Willingness to be involved in field testing and validation against real flight.
• Eligible for UK security clearance (SC): UK citizen or 5+ years UK residency.

Responsibilities

• Build and extend real-time UAV simulation of the aircraft, sensors, and environment.
• Develop vehicle dynamics models and validate against flight data.
• Integrate flight control and autonomy software with the simulation for pre-deployment testing.
• Provide an environment where flight control, autonomy, communications, and ground control software are exercised together.
• Scale simulation across many vehicles over lossy networks.
• Automate headless simulation runs and CI/CD results reporting.
• Create realistic virtual environments from real-world data for vision systems.
• Reproduce flight scenarios to surface faults as regression tests.
• Support training and mission rehearsal use of the simulation.
