Job summary

Camlin Group in Lisburn, United Kingdom, is seeking a Mid-Level Firmware Engineer for the Real-Time Applications unit. The role focuses on designing, developing, and optimizing DSP and Microcontroller-based real-time systems tailored to project requirements.

You will work on real-time DSP algorithms, MCU firmware, and hardware/software integration, ensuring latency targets and efficient resource use. The position requires strong C/C++, RTOS knowledge, and experience with DSP architecture;

Qualifications

• Must have proven experience in design, simulation, implementation, verification and validation of digital circuits on DSP devices and Microcontrollers.
• Proficient in C++ and C programming.
• Solid understanding of RTOS concepts (FreeRTOS, Zephyr).
• Knowledge of DSP algorithms (FFT, digital filters, resampling).
• Experience with lab equipment (oscilloscope, logic analyzer).
• Familiarity with I2C, SPI, UART, RS485, RS232, RGMII.
• Scripting with Bash or Python.
• Version control with Git; familiar with Agile methodologies.
• Fluent English communication.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement real-time systems, including DSP algorithms and Microcontroller firmware.
• Lead hardware/software integration for real-time solutions.
• Optimize signal processing and embedded system performance.
• Conduct code reviews, design evaluations, and testing to uphold quality.
• Investigate and resolve complex real-time system issues.
• Debug hardware and software to identify root causes.
• Propose innovative solutions to technical challenges.
• Ensure designs comply with regulatory standards.
• Stay updated on DSP and Microcontroller advances; contribute to tooling and process improvements.
