Job summary

Cirrus Logic, based in Newbury, seeks a Senior Firmware Engineer to design and develop audio DSP firmware across the full stack, from architecture to low-level implementation. The role emphasizes fixed-point performance, memory and power optimization for our DSP cores, with close collaboration across hardware and systems teams.

You will contribute to tests, code reviews, and documentation while bringing up new hardware and validating algorithms for throughput and latency on production-ready

Qualifications

• Degree in Electronics, Embedded Software, Signal Processing or related discipline.
• Strong experience in embedded firmware development in C/C++ for DSPs and embedded platforms.
• Ability to translate Matlab algorithms to embedded C/C++ for fixed- and floating-point DSPs.
• Proven ability to optimize firmware for cycle counting, memory, DMA, cache, latency and jitter.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain embedded firmware for DSP cores.
• Develop firmware with a mix of C/C++ (and selective assembly).
• Design, simulate, and optimize algorithms for hardware/DSP constraints.
• Develop test strategies and manufacturing diagnostics.
• Collaborate with chip design, applications, systems, and marketing teams to define requirements.
• Contribute to IP, methodologies, and documentation.
• Participate in code reviews and establish embedded quality practices.
• Use debugging/profiling tools (JTAG/SWD, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers) for bring-up.
• Bring up new hardware: boot flows, clocks, memory maps, vectors, peripheral init.
