Job summary

Camlin in Lisburn, United Kingdom, is seeking a Junior Firmware Engineer in the Real-Time Applications unit. You will design, develop and optimize firmware for DSPs and microcontrollers in real-time applications.

Key tasks include implementing firmware, meeting real-time constraints, and collaborating across teams. You will work with C/C++, RTOS (FreeRTOS/Zephyr), and modern toolchains, contributing to documentation and quality standards in a hybrid work setup.

Qualifications

• Design, simulation, implementation, verification of real‑time DSP/microcontroller systems.
• Proficient in C++ and C for embedded firmware.
• Experience with FreeRTOS or Zephyr RTOS.
• Scripting basics in Bash or Python.
• GitLab, Docker, CI/CD, and Artifactory familiarity.
• Build systems such as CMake.
• Git version control expertise.
• Agile development methodologies.
• Experience with protocols (I2C, SPI, UART) and MQTT.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement and debug firmware for DSPs and microcontrollers for real-time applications.
• Ensure firmware meets real-time constraints; optimize latency and throughput.
• Optimize signal processing algorithms and embedded systems.
• Conduct code reviews, design evaluations, testing to uphold quality.
• Investigate and resolve complex issues in real-time systems.
• Debug hardware and software issues to root cause.
• Design high-quality systems complying with regulatory standards.
• Create and maintain technical documentation.
• Experience across design, simulation, verification of real-time DSPs.
