Job summary

BCL Legal is working with a leading national law firm in Birmingham to recruit an experienced Real Estate Dispute Resolution Associate.

You will manage your own caseload, advise on landlord and tenant disputes, and support development-related disputes, while mentoring juniors and contributing to business development.

Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales with 3+ PQE is required; strong drafting, advocacy and client relationship skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales with 3+ years' PQE in property litigation or real estate dispute resolution.
• Strong technical knowledge of landlord and tenant law and wider real estate disputes.
• Experience of County Court and First-tier Tribunal proceedings.
• Confident managing your own caseload while working collaboratively within a wider team.
• Commercially minded with excellent problem-solving skills.
• Strong drafting, negotiation and advocacy abilities.
• Excellent communication and client relationship skills.
• Highly organised with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Manage your own caseload of complex real estate disputes with appropriate supervision.
• Advise on a broad range of landlord and tenant disputes, including lease renewals, dilapidations and forfeiture.
• Handle development-related disputes including rights of light, restrictive covenants and boundary disputes.
• Manage possession proceedings, trespass claims and property enforcement matters.
• Support property insolvency and other contentious real estate work.
• Draft pleadings, witness statements and instructions to counsel.
• Attend court hearings, mediations and client meetings.
• Support partners and senior colleagues on complex litigation and alternative dispute resolution matters.
• Supervise and mentor junior lawyers, contributing to training and knowledge sharing across the team.
• Build strong client relationships and become involved in business development initiatives.
