A leading law firm is looking to recruit an Associate to join its Birmingham Real Estate Disputes team, offering the opportunity to work on a broad and interesting range of complex property disputes alongside an established national real estate practice. This is an excellent opportunity for a solicitor with 1–4 years' PQE who already has a solid grounding in property disputes and is looking to develop their technical expertise and client portfolio within a supportive and ambitious team.

The Role

Working closely with the firm's national Projects, Real Estate, Construction and Litigation teams, you will advise a diverse client base including landowners, developers and local authorities.

Your caseload will include a broad range of commercial property disputes, including:

  • Commercial landlord and tenant disputes, including 1954 Act matters, break rights, alienation and dilapidations
  • Disputes relating to property contracts
  • Property-related insolvency matters
  • Rights of way, adverse possession and restrictive covenants
  • Development and portfolio-related disputes
  • Strategic advice for landowners, developers and local authorities
  • Higher-value residential property disputes, including investment property matters
  • Group actions involving block investors

You will have the opportunity to handle matters through all levels of the Courts and Tribunals, as well as gaining experience in alternative dispute resolution, including formal mediations and without-prejudice negotiations.

The breadth of the firm's wider real estate practice means there is also significant scope to broaden your experience and become involved in a wide variety of issues relating to property disputes.

Alongside fee-earning work, you will play an active role in developing client relationships, contributing to business development initiatives and supporting the development of more junior members of the team.

The Candidate

The successful candidate will be a Property Litigation Solicitor with between 1 and 4 years' PQE, ideally having trained and qualified within a reputable commercial law firm.

You will have:

  • Previous experience in property disputes/property litigation
  • Strong technical ability and excellent attention to detail
  • A genuine interest in developing your career within real estate disputes
  • Excellent communication and client-care skills
  • Strong commercial awareness
  • The ability to manage your workload effectively and meet deadlines
  • A proactive and enthusiastic approach
  • The confidence to work on innovative and bespoke matters
  • A collaborative approach and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • A strong academic background

You will be someone who is keen to learn, commercially minded and committed to delivering an excellent service to clients.

The Opportunity

This is a great opportunity to join a well-established national real estate disputes practice where you will benefit from high-quality work, excellent client exposure and the opportunity to develop your career within a broad and sophisticated property practice.

The team offers the chance to work on interesting and varied matters while collaborating with specialists across the firm's wider real estate, construction, projects and litigation practices. If you're a Property Litigation Solicitor with 1–4 years' PQE looking for your next challenge in Birmingham, this is an opportunity worth exploring.
