Job summary

Derby Cathedral School is seeking a Reading Intervention Lead for its expanding 11–19 academy with over 1,200 pupils across Years 7–13 and a newly opened sixth form. The role requires passion for reading, strong subject knowledge, and the ability to engage diverse readers to raise attainment.

You will work within a team to deliver targeted reading interventions, track progress, and collaborate with SEND and EAL strategies while upholding the school’s values and safeguarding standards.

Qualifications

• Passion for reading and improving pupil outcomes.
• Experience working with secondary-aged students.
• Strong understanding of reading development, fluency, comprehension, and reading for pleasure.
• Ability to motivate and engage reluctant readers.
• Excellent organisational and communication skills.
• Understanding of SEND and EAL strategies for reading access.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
