Job summary

J Skelton Garage Services Ltd is seeking a qualified MOT Tester to join a small, close-knit team north of York. The role covers MOT testing and servicing of cars and light commercial vehicles with a focus on careful, reliable workmanship.

Applicants should hold a current MOT testing qualification and be able to work across a varied range of makes and models in a clean, modern workshop environment. No weekend work is required.

Qualifications

• Current MOT testing qualification is essential.
• Ability to service, maintain and repair vehicles to a high standard.
• Accurate fault identification and clear fault reporting.

Responsibilities

• Carry out Class 4 MOT tests accurately and in line with DVSA rules.
• Service, maintain, diagnose and repair cars and light commercial vehicles.
• Identify and clearly record faults, safety concerns and advisory work.
• Complete job cards and vehicle records accurately.
• Road-test vehicles when required and look after customers’ vehicles and property.
• Help maintain a clean, organized and safe workshop.
• Support the team in delivering excellent workmanship and customer service.

We are looking for a qualified MOT Tester who can also contribute to the servicing, maintenance and repair of cars and light commercial vehicles. A current MOT testing qualification is essential. We are open to applicants with different levels of workshop experience, so this could suit an experienced technician or someone earlier in their career who is already an authorised MOT tester and takes pride in doing careful, reliable work.
